China's box office revenue in 2025, including pre-sales, had exceeded 45 billion yuan (about 6.3 billion U.S. dollars) as of 02:12 Monday, according to online statistics platforms.

The year-to-date box office for 2025 has surpassed the total of 2024 at 42.5 billion yuan.

The biggest single driver of 2025's surge has been the animated blockbuster Ne Zha 2, which was screened during the Chinese New Year holiday and has grossed more than 15.4 billion yuan, accounting for over a third of the national total to date.

It is followed by Detective Chinatown 1900 at 3.6 billion yuan, and summer box office leader Dead to Rights at 3 billion yuan.

This year has seen the release of more than 350 films so far nationwide, spanning genres of historical drama, comedy, animation, fantasy, and feature films.

The diverse film offerings not only fueled audience anticipation but also made moviegoing a popular way to spend time with family and friends during holidays.

From the "strongest ever" start of the Spring Festival season, to the explosion of diverse genres and movie numbers during the summer season, and the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival seasons, each key period has effectively boosted the film market.

An electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, developed by the ninth academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, completed its maiden flight in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Friday.

The aircraft also successfully completed all performance verifications, according to its developer.

Featuring a novel configuration that combines air vehicles and automobile designs, the eVTOL aircraft can seamlessly switch between land and air travel modes to meet diverse transport needs, its developer said.

Consisting of wings, a cabin and a chassis, the aircraft has two major components: an airborne module and a road-going module. The airborne module can carry two passengers at speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour at altitudes below 3,000 meters, while the road-going module, featuring a fully electric intelligent chassis, offers a range exceeding 300 kilometers.

As a multipurpose low-altitude equipment, the eVTOL aircraft can be used in fields such as transportation, logistics and emergency support, according to its developer.
