The giant panda siblings, the elder sister Jia Jia and little brother De De, at Ocean Park are becoming bolder and sharper, pushing their exploration skills to the max!  Even without their mum Ying Ying by their side, they’re showing they can venture out on their own at the stream and waterfall.

In the latest video on Ocean Park's social media platform, the elder sister Jia Jia has taken her first step out. Although she was a little curious about the waterfall and the stream, she was still not afraid of the new challenge and stepped into the water bravely. She even climbed up and down for exploration around. Seeing his elder sister having a great time, the little brother De De also joined her in enjoying the fun of playing in the water. He even ate while playing and wasn't afraid of turning into a wet panda.

Many netizens, after watching the video, expressed their feelings, "It's so touching to witness the gradual growth of the two siblings." However, there were even some netizens who raised an interesting perspective of observation, "The weather is getting cold now. If they are soaked through, will there be anyone to dry them? Or will they dry themselves with the natural wind?"

Ocean Park will redevelop its North Pole Encounter into a brand-new marine mammal conservation centre. To facilitate this renovation, North Pole Encounter has closed its doors to the public, with the grand reopening of the new marine mammal conservation centre slated for the first quarter of 2027.

During this period, visitors are invited to explore other exhibits in the Park and visit its wide range of animal ambassadors, with seals and sea lions waiting for all at the Pacific Pier.

The new conservation centre will further enhance Ocean Park’s capabilities in marine mammal research and rescue, transforming research outcomes into tangible conservation efforts. The renovation is expected to solidify Hong Kong’s role in marine conservation and foster global collaboration for sustainable marine development.
