Chinese shares close lower Wednesday

Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.07 percent to 4,000.14 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.36 percent lower at 13,240.62 points.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, fell by 0.39 percent to close at 3,122.03 points.

The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and other indices, reflects the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

Chinese shares close lower Wednesday

China on Saturday sent a new satellite into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the country's southwestern Sichuan Province.

The satellite, Fengyun-4 03, was launched by a Long March-3B rocket at 12:07 a.m. (Beijing Time) and has entered its planned orbit.

This was the 621st flight mission of the Long March rocket series.
