A proven executive leader with more than 25 years of experience guiding enterprise technology strategy, Ponathil will chart SmartRent’s technology roadmap moving forward. His acumen in corporate digital transformation, infrastructure modernization and executing corporate strategy will be instrumental as the Company expands its industry-leading footprint.

Under his guidance, SmartRent will continue to architect scalable IT systems and infrastructure to support growth and innovation for its leading IoT and smart operations platform, including expanded use of AI-driven insights and intelligent automation. He will also be responsible for leading the Company’s engineering, product development, applications, security, data and support teams.

Ponathil most recently served as Senior Vice President of Technology and Head of Product and Engineering at loanDepot, Inc., where he led a team of over 250 technology professionals. In those roles, he oversaw the delivery of technology across sales, operations, marketing, customer relationship management, servicing and corporate applications. He also orchestrated transformational initiatives to drive customer retention and corporate efficiencies, led a digital platform transformation and built a scalable cloud-based servicing platform. Prior to loanDepot, Ponathil worked at YUM Brands as Senior Director of Information Technology for Pizza Hut, where he had full ownership of technology strategy and project delivery for over 5,000 franchise locations. While at YUM Brands, he managed a team of 100-plus across application development, data, infrastructure and information security, and led the modernization of the company’s data, marketing and customer systems to improve retention and operational efficiency.
