An Indian aircraft crashed on Friday during a demonstration at the Dubai Air Show, killing the pilot.

The Indian HAL Tejas fighter jet crashed around 14:10 local time (1010 GMT) while flying a demonstration flight.

The Indian Air Force said in a statement that it "deeply regrets the loss of life and stands firmly with the bereaved family in this time of grief."

A court of inquiry is being set up to determine the cause of the accident, the statement added.

Oil prices climbed on Thursday.

The West Texas Intermediate for January delivery increased by 72 cents, or 1.22 percent, to settle at 59.67 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for February delivery went up 59 cents, or 0.94 percent, to settle at 63.26 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
