Chinese shares close mixed Thursday

Chinese stocks closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.06 percent to 3,875.79 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.40 percent higher at 13,006.72 points.

The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.55 trillion yuan (about 219.1 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.67 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Shares related to aircraft manufacturing and ceramics led the gains, while the shipbuilding and environmental protection sectors were among the biggest losers.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.01 percent to close at 3,067.48 points on Thursday.

The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and other indices, reflects the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
