China calls for international cooperation to oppose unilateral compulsory measures, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian said during a press briefing in Beijing on Thursday.
Lin was responding to a question concerning the continued imposition of such measures, including economic sanctions, against countries like Russia, China, and Iran.
"Unilateral compulsory measures violate the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, undermine multilateralism and the foundation of international rule of law, seriously violate basic human rights such as the right to life and development, and hinder global development cooperation and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development," said Lin.
"China opposes unilateral compulsory measures and calls on the international community to strengthen unity and cooperation, jointly oppose unilateralism, safeguard the international system centered on the UN and the international order underpinned by international law, and promote the development of global governance in a more just and rational direction," he said.
