China on Friday launched two new satellites from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.

The VHF Data Exchange System (VDES) satellites were launched by a Kuaizhou-1A (KZ-1A) carrier rocket at 17:00 Beijing time and entered their planned orbit successfully.

This mission marks the 30th flight of the KZ-1A carrier rocket.

The motorcade of visiting U.S. President Donald Trump arrived at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday afternoon ahead of a welcoming banquet hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

At the invitation of Xi, Trump is on a state visit to China from Wednesday to Friday.

Earlier in the day, the two leaders held talks at the Great Hall of the People and paid a visit to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.
