China strongly opposes the European Commission's recent intensive investigations into multiple Chinese enterprises under the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR), commerce ministry spokesman He Yadong said at a press briefing on Thursday.
He slammed the European Commission's investigations against China's top train manufacturer CRRC Corporation, Chinese security equipment maker Nuctech, and some other companies.
"China has noted that the European Commission has recently intensively launched FSR investigations against Chinese enterprises. It has initiated in-depth probes into CRRC Corporation and Nuctech, and even conducted unannounced on-site inspections of Chinese digital platforms. These actions are egregious, demonstrating selective targeting and discriminatory practices. China strongly opposes them," said He.
"We urge the European Commission to immediately cease its unreasonable suppression of foreign-invested enterprises, including those from China, to exercise caution in using FSR investigation tools, and to create a fair, just, and predictable business environment for enterprises investing and operating in Europe. China is closely following relevant developments of the European Commission and will take all measures necessary to firmly defend the lawful rights and interests of Chinese companies," he said.
