Any arms sales to the Taiwan region cannot hinder the historical trend that China will eventually and surely be reunified, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Friday, in response to the latest approval by the United States of large-scale arms sales to Taiwan.

"The U.S. large-scale arms sales to Taiwan constitute a gross interference in China's internal affairs, seriously undermine China's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, and severely disrupt peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, sending a gravely wrong signal to Taiwan separatist forces and the international community. China is strongly dissatisfied with and firmly opposed to this and has immediately lodged solemn representations with the U.S. side," said Guo Jiakun, the spokesman, at a press conference in Beijing.

"China's core interests are not subject to undermining, the Taiwan question brooks no external interference, and China's bottom line must not to be crossed! Taiwan separatism is incompatible with peace across the Taiwan Strait. Any arm sales to Taiwan will face serious consequences. The true threat to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait comes from the separatist activities of the Lai Ching-te authorities and external interference. The so-called 'assistance for Taiwan in response to threats' will only fuel the arrogance of Taiwan separatism, putting the people in Taiwan on a powder keg and pushing the Taiwan Strait toward a dangerous situation. This will inevitably heighten the risks of China-U.S. conflict and confrontation. No one and no force should underestimate the strong will and ability of the Chinese government and people to safeguard the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity," Guo said.

"No matter how many advanced weapons are sold to Taiwan, they cannot hinder the historical trend that China will eventually and surely be reunified. China will take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity. China urges the U.S. to abide by the one-China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiqués, act on its leaders' serious commitments, stop the dangerous act of arming Taiwan, stop undermining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and stop sending wrong signals to Taiwan separatist forces," he said.

The Global Tourism Economy Forum (GTEF) was held in Harbin City of northeast China's Heilongjiang, which is reputed as China's "Ice City", on Tuesday, bringing together over 1,000 delegates from more than 30 countries and regions around the world to chart a new blueprint for development of the global tourism economy.

Founded in China's Macao Special Administrative Region in 2012, the annual GTEF has established itself as a key platform fostering dialogue between China and the rest of the world.

As the first iteration held outside Macao, the 2025 edition of the forum leveraged Heilongjiang's distinctive resources and strategic position to build itself into a high-level international platform for promoting development of winter tourism.

Under the theme "New Quality Productive Forces: A New Engine for the Global Tourism Economy," the event facilitated discussions on the industry's future development and connected new opportunities worldwide.

The forum further established Heilongjiang as a premier global ice-and-snow tourism destination and a new hub for international cultural exchange. It is also set to contribute China's insights and practical approaches to high-quality and sustainable development of winter tourism worldwide.
