⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠China's film market has sustained strong growth in 2025, with domestic and animated films leading the chart.   The box office earnings have so far reached 51.2 billion yuan (about 7.2 billion U.S. dollars), with 1.22 billion tickets sold throughout the year, according to a report by China Media Group (CMG) on Friday.   Domestic productions took center stage, grossing more than 42 billion yuan (about 5.98 billion U.S. dollars) and claiming nine spots in the annual top 10 box office ranking.   Animated films also had a stellar year, amassing over 25 billion yuan (about 3.56 billion U.S. dollars) in revenue, which accounted for almost half of the total market earnings.

Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.1 percent to 3,963.68 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.54 percent higher at 13,603.89 points.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.14 percent to close at 3,243.88 points.

The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and other indices, reflects the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
