PLA continues live-fire drills around Taiwan in warning against separatists

The Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) announced that it is conducting a significant military exercise involving live-fire drills in designated maritime and airspace areas from 08:00 to 18:00 Tuesday.

The exercise is part of the ongoing PLA's large-scale joint military drills around Taiwan Island under the codename "Justice Mission 2025," which enters its second day.

Accompanying the drill announcement is a strong reaffirmation of the PLA's position regarding national sovereignty.

The PLA vows it will show no mercy in taking resolute actions against separatist forces in Taiwan. It will continue to carry out operations aimed at countering separatist forces in Taiwan and foreign interference, firmly upholding national sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

Crude futures settle higher

Oil prices advanced on Monday.

The West Texas Intermediate for February delivery increased by 1.34 U.S. dollars, or 2.36 percent, to settle at 58.08 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for February delivery went up 1.3 dollars, or 2.14 percent, to settle at 61.94 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
