President of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Lee Jae Myung will pay a state visit to China from Jan 4 to 7, 2026 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian announced on Tuesday.

"This marks President Lee Jae Myung's first visit to China since taking office. China and the ROK are important neighbors and cooperation partners. It is hoped that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the visit will play a positive role in further advancing the China–ROK strategic cooperative partnership," said Lin.

Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ended flat at 3,965.12 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.49 percent higher at 13,604.07 points.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.63 percent to close at 3,242.9 points Tuesday. The ChiNext Index, together with the Shenzhen Component Index and other indices, reflects the performance of stocks listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
