A commentator said that the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA)'s ongoing "Justice Mission 2025" exercise around Taiwan Island is necessary to deliver a strong blow to separatist forces in Taiwan, accusing them of colluding with external forces and undermining the interests of people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

Multiple forces of the PLA Eastern Theater Command started joint drills around the Taiwan Island on Monday.

The PLA Eastern Theater Command has dispatched its Army, Navy, Air Force and Rocket Force troops to conduct the drills in the Taiwan Strait and areas to the north, southwest, southeast and east of the Taiwan Island.

Hsieh Chih-chuan, a current affairs commentator in Taiwan, pointed out that the exercise underscores China's unwavering resolve to thwart separatist activities.

He emphasized the necessity of taking resolute actions against separatist forces in Taiwan, while also highlighting that the ongoing PLA's military drills are a response to these provocations and U.S. arms sales in the region.

"It is a must to strike a hard blow to the stubborn separatists like Lai Ching-te and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities as they went further in seeking secession by colluding with the U.S. in the military attempt. Recently, they agitated again the so-called resisting the Chinese mainland for Taiwan, and the so-called benefits of arms sales from the U.S. The PLA's military drills just target at them and also sent a signal to the U.S. I think the signal also coincides with the countermeasures in response to the U.S. latest large-scale arms sales package to the region," he said.

China's top political advisor Wang Huning has met with delegates attending the 11th national congress of the Taoist Association of China, which was held on Monday and Tuesday in Beijing.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, stressed the importance of implementing the Party's basic policy on religious affairs, and of guiding followers and key figures of Taoism to contribute to the country's modernization drive.

Wang urged the association to exercise full and rigorous governance over the religion, intensify efforts to raise awareness of the rule of law, and foster an image of a Taoist community that is patriotic and devoted to the faith, maintains good conduct, abides by the law, and upholds Taoist precepts.

He encouraged the association to cultivate talent proficient in both canonical teachings and fine traditional Chinese culture, and to expand global exchange in Taoism.

At the national congress, the association adopted a revised charter, as well as a set of religious rules and regulations, and elected new leadership.
