Football supporters who attended the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have hailed Morocco's hosting of the event, with many visitors from sub-Saharan Africa believing the tournament could serve as a game-changer in setting new benchmarks for fan experiences across the continent.

The latest edition of the biennial football extravaganza came to a dramatic conclusion last Sunday when Senegal pipped the hosts in extra time after an extraordinary final match, bringing a close to the nearly month-long competition.

Staged across six vibrant cities, it marked the first major continental tournament Morocco has hosted since 1988, and drew fans from 24 countries while showcasing Morocco's modern infrastructure, seamless logistics, and efficient local transportation.

"For AFCON 2025 in Morocco, Senegal was well welcomed. It was well organized," said Sisi Aissa, a fan from the eventual winners Senegal.

"I want to commend the government of Morocco. You've done very well in organizing this competition. The level of attendance was very good, and we are pleased," said Ottchi Adiko, a fan from Nigeria, who reached the semi-final stage.

As the dust now settles from the tournament, Morocco is already experiencing a boost in its tourism sector. With fully booked hotels, packed stadiums, and vibrant atmospheres by the venues and across city centers, many visiting fans say their experience has convinced them to return, not as supporters, but as tourists.

"I'm planning to come back with my family to better discover Morocco. I came to support Egypt and I fell in love with Morocco's beauty. Each city is a jewel," said Ahmed Hamdi, a fan from Egypt.

Local observers noted that the event's success highlights the importance of strengthening air connectivity between Morocco and other parts of Africa, especially ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host alongside Portugal and Spain.

"Most fans came from Africa. They backed their teams and attended other matches, helping drive tourism activity across the country. Going forward, Morocco will need to ensure easier access and more direct connections for future tournaments," said Rachid Elouahi, a Moroccan football reporter.

Beyond the games, the tournament acted as a real test of Morocco's hosting capacity and its readiness for larger international events.

"AFCON has given a strong boost to Morocco's economy. With the 2030 World Cup just four years away, the remaining time is sufficient to put the right logistics in place to welcome guests from around the world," said Souhaib Zefri, a Moroccan sports reporter.

More than 20 films will hit Chinese screens during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday from Saturday to Monday, spanning genres from revolutionary historical dramas, realism movies to suspense thrillers, according to the China Film Administration on Thursday.

Revolutionary historical films such as Blood-Spattered Cliff, Eight Sons, Eight Soldiers, and Half Of The Quilt, will pay tribute to martyrs through the lens.

Three films -- It's OK, Now I Met Her, and Sunshine Women's Choir -- tell moving stories of love, growth, and reconciliation.

It's OK is a contemporary family comedy that follows a mother and daughter navigating their joyful yet turbulent relationship. Now I Met Her tells a rebellious teenager who gets to know his late mother through her old diary. Sunshine Women's Choir, a film from the Taiwan region of China, portrays the "perfect" maternal love of "imperfect mothers."

The suspense film Game of Identity tells the story of two people from different backgrounds who accidentally swap lives, setting off an unexpected adventure. The documentary films Seeking Nature: The Code of Life, and Missions to the Moon (Part One) explore the connection between humanity and science.

Imported films from different countries, including The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2, Project Hail Mary, and Hoppers, will deliver spectacular cinematic experiences to audiences.

The Qingming Festival, or Tomb-Sweeping Day, falls on April 5 this year. It is a traditional Chinese festival for honoring the deceased and paying tribute to ancestors. The holiday also provides a short break for Chinese citizens as they engage in outdoor activities and sightseeing.
