Uruguayan President Yamandu Orsi's forthcoming visit to China will strengthen the bilateral relations, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said in Beijing on Monday.

At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay Yamandu Orsi will pay a state visit to China from Feb. 1 to 7.

"This is President Orsi's first state visit to China. During the visit, President Xi Jinping will hold talks with President Orsi to have an in-depth exchange of views on deepening the China-Uruguay comprehensive strategic partnership, promoting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and international and regional issues of mutual interest. We expect and believe that, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, this visit will play a positive role in promoting the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Uruguay," said Guo Jiakun, the spokesperson.
