In celebration of the Year of the Horse, which symbolises strength, success, and positive momentum in traditional Chinese culture, Hong Kong is preparing to usher in the Chinese New Year with a spectacular event on the first evening of the year in Tsim Sha Tsui. This occasion will feature a vibrant parade adorned with horse-inspired floats, accompanied by exciting performances from local and international troupes, creating a dynamic start to the Year of the Horse. This dazzling and energetic traditional festival celebration will highlight Hong Kong’s rich multicultural appeal and extend heartfelt wishes to visitors from around the world.

The celebration kicks off with a variety of street performances starting at 6 pm, including lion dance, dragon dance, freestyle jump rope, street dance, magic, etc.

As for the float parade, it will start at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui, proceed along Canton Road, Haiphong Road and Nathan Road, and finish at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel.

After the parade, some of the floats will be on display at the Kai Tak Sports Park from the second to the tenth day of the Chinese New Year.

Dr. Peter Lam Kin-ngok, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, said that the Chinese New Year Night Parade has been held for 30 years, which has become a world-class event attracting many tourists every year, through the efforts of many parties. The Hong Kong Tourism Board will seize the peak period of the Chinese New Year, collaborating with industries to promote the glamour of Hong Kong and attract tourists from different regions to visit and experience the festive atmosphere.
The Chinese New Year Fireworks Display will shine on the Victoria Harbour at 8 pm on February 18th, the second day of the Chinese New Year. Coordinated by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and solely sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the 23-minute extravaganza will be divided into eight scenes.

Themed "Prosperity Gallops Across Hong Kong", the fireworks display will feature horse-related elements and auspicious symbols, symbolizing prosperity and success in the new year.

In addition, the Hong Kong Jockey Club will participate in the New Year parade and host the Raceday of the Year of the Horse during the Chinese New Year period. Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, the CEO of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, stated that horse racing is not only popular in Hong Kong, but has also developed into a world-class level activity enjoying international renown. He said that horse racing is not just a sport, but an important impetus promoting the regional development. The Hong Kong Jockey Club will continue to contribute to Hong Kong's economic and social development via its unique integrated operating model.

Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges also stated that the Year of the Horse is a particularly significant year for the Hong Kong Jockey Club, describing horse racing as a symbol of prosperity and stability under the "One Country, Two Systems" framework. The Hong Kong Jockey Club is entering a new phase of business and strategy development, contributing to the "National Horse Industry Development Plan". The Hong Kong Jockey Club has collaborated with international architects to build a horse racecourse in Conghua of Guangzhou, with the incorporation of Chinese cultural elements into its design. Starting from the end of October this year, the Hong Kong Jockey Club will host world-class horse racing events in Mainland China at the Conghua Racecourse.

In addition, the Hong Kong Jockey Club also announced a series of activities for the celebration of the Year of the Horse, covering horse racing, equestrian activities, and family cultural activities, and appointed Mr. Aaron Kwok as the "Ambassador for the Year of the Horse." Mr. Kwok stated that the horse's qualities are unceasing striving, perseverance, and a fighting spirit.

An appointment and launching ceremony was also held at the press conference of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, showcasing a sculpture themed the Year of the Horse. Mr. Kwok also presented the Hong Kong Jockey Club with his calligraphy of the Chinese character "horse". The three officiating guests subsequently activated the starting device with horseshoes.

The series of activities will kick off with the "Longines Hong Kong International Horse Show 2026" at AsiaWorld-Expo from January 30th to February 1st, featuring the five-star International Showjumping Competition, the HKJC Asian Youth Challenge Competition, and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Musical Ride, etc.

During the Chinese New Year period, the Hong Kong Jockey Club will participate in the New Year parade on the first day of the Chinese New Year. On the second day, it will present the solely sponsored fireworks display, lasting 23 minutes, on the Victoria Harbour. On the third day, it will host the Raceday of the Year of the Horse at Sha Tin Racecourse, accompanied by festive programs and on-course activities.
