China supports Finnish enterprises in expanding exports of high-quality products and services to the Chinese market and welcomes their continued, proactive investment in China, He Yongqian, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), said at a press conference in Beijing on Thursday.

She made the remarks when asked to comment on how China and Finland will further deepen and consolidate bilateral economic and trade cooperation going forward.

"MOFCOM and Finland's Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment signed a Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening the work of the China-Finland Committee for Innovative Business Cooperation, and jointly hosted the sixth meeting of the committee. More than 50 Chinese and Finnish companies held in-depth discussions on cooperation in innovation, green development, and digitalization, and signed multiple commercial agreements covering sectors including mining machinery, healthcare, papermaking, and green buildings," He said.

"Looking ahead, the MOFCOM will work with the Finnish side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, make good use of such mechanisms as the bilateral economic and trade joint committee to enhance policy communication. We will also support Finnish companies in expanding exports of high-quality products and services to China, and welcome Finnish enterprises to continue investing in China and sharing opportunities brought by high-quality development," said the spokeswoman.

China made public a work plan on Friday to further upgrade service consumption infrastructures and support housekeeping, elderly care and childcare sectors.

The document, jointly released by the Ministry of Commerce and eight other departments, outlined 64 measures to boost service consumption, including traditional sectors like catering and accommodation, tourism, as well as elderly care and childcare.

Emerging growth sectors, such as housekeeping, performance services and inbound consumption, are also covered.

These measures will create new consumption scenarios amid efforts to drive service consumption and meet people's growing needs for a better life, according to the ministry.
