The promotional video of China Media Group (CMG)'s 2026 Spring Festival Gala was showcased in some universities in Germany, attracting many Chinese culture lovers.
Spring Festival, or Chinese New Year, is the most important traditional holiday for Chinese people, and watching the Spring Festival Gala on television is a cherished part of the celebrations in hundreds of millions of Chinese homes.
This year's Spring Festival Gala will be broadcast live around the world on Chinese New Year's Eve on February 16.
In Berlin, about 1,400 Chinese and German students watched the promotional video of the CMG Spring Festival Gala at a Chinese New Year celebration for Berlin and Brandenburg regional Chinese students on Sunday.
The promotional video ignited the atmosphere with its upbeat rhythm and compelling stage visuals.
"This promotional video is very appealing, especially in terms of visual effects. I think it's a blend of modern and cultural elements, which immediately piqued my interest," said Kaan Gozuacik, a student of Technical University of Berlin.
"The cultural elements in the promotional video, including the performances like dance and singing, are especially interesting. That's also what I look forward to most in this year's Spring Festival Gala. I wish everyone a smooth Year of the Horse, good health, and happiness. I believe it will be a special year," said Nils Brockelt, another audience member.
The celebration for the Year of the Horse was jointly organized by the Chinese Students and Scholars Associations of the Technical University of Berlin, Free University of Berlin, Humboldt University of Berlin, and Berlin University of the Arts.
Audience were also captured by the diverse array of artistic performance on the stage including martial arts, traditional opera, instrumental music, and classical Chinese group dances.
In Germany's Hannover, more than 300 audience members were also fascinated by the promotional video of CMG Spring Festival Gala at a Chinese New Year celebration on Jan 24.
Organized by North Germany Student Union and Hannover Student Union, the event created a strong holiday atmosphere through singing, dancing and performances that blended traditional costumes with ethnic instruments.
"I expect this year's gala to be as wonderful as last year. For instance, I thought the robot dance was particularly cool last year. Of course, the overall dance and singing performances were very impressive. I hope to see similar programs this year, or content that incorporates more advanced technology," said Leonard Zucht, an audience member.
"I think everything in the promotional video is excellent. It's a vibrant combination of various elements expressed in their unique ways. What makes it special is also the tradition, the musical instruments and the costumes. You can see the culture in it and these cultures connect humanity," said Marcella Lo Cacciato, another audience member.
Since first being broadcast in 1983, the Spring Festival Gala has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the most-watched annual television program on the planet.
Just over a year ago, the Spring Festival itself was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
