Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul-Gheit urged full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip while reiterating his support for the establishment of a Palestinian state fully ruled by the Palestinians themselves.
In an interview with China Media Group (CMG) aired on Friday, Aboul-Gheit called for fast rebuilding of Gaza.
"I ask for the full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. I ask for a solid, strong, organic relationship between the West Bank and Gaza. I hope for a continuous rebuilding of the cities that have been demolished and destroyed beyond recognition, and I hope that the Palestinian Authority would be allowed to emerge back in Gaza, aiming at the establishment of a Palestinian state ruled by the Palestinians themselves," said the Arab League chief.
Since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, Israeli fire has killed at least 556 more Palestinians, Gaza health officials said on Wednesday.
Hamas on Tuesday accused Israel of continuing to restrict humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, deepening the crisis for displaced civilians amid worsening winter conditions.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said in a statement that Israel is limiting fuel and cooking gas to minimal quantities, violating the ongoing ceasefire agreement.
