The third China-Türkiye Business Conference was held in Istanbul on Saturday, bringing together more than 300 representatives from government bodies, business associations and enterprises of both countries to explore new drivers of trade growth and cooperation.

Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), led a delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs to attend the event.

In his address at the conference, Ren said China and Türkiye, once connected by the ancient Silk Road, have a strong foundation for bilateral cooperation and great potential ahead.

He cited projects such as China-Europe freight trains passing through Türkiye, the Ankara-Istanbul high-speed railway jointly built by Chinese and Turkish companies, and the growing popularity of Turkish products such as pistachios in the Chinese market as tangible outcomes of the cooperation.

Ren said the CCPIT is willing to work closely with Turkish partners to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the sustained development of China-Türkiye relations.

Türkiye's Minister of Trade Omer Bolat spoke highly of the achievements in bilateral economic and trade relations, noting that China is among Türkiye's top three trading partners.

He said the two sides have significant potential for cooperation in supply chains, and that Türkiye has high expectations for expanding tourism cooperation with China.

Bolat said the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative has become an important avenue for Türkiye-China cooperation in transportation and connectivity.

He added that Türkiye welcomes increased Chinese investment and encourages Turkish companies to further explore the Chinese market.

"Türkiye places high importance on technological development, which has been elevated to the level of national policy. Looking at the global development process, consumer demand for scientific and technological products continues to grow. Therefore, I hope that Türkiye and China will continuously strengthen their cooperation and investment in the technological field," said Aydin Mistacoglu, chairman of Türkiye-China Business Council of the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye (DEiK).

During the conference, the CCPIT renewed memorandums of understanding with the DEiK and the Turkish Industry and Business Association.

The China International Exhibition Center Group promoted the fourth China International Supply Chain Expo, which will take place in Beijing in June, and signed a cooperation memorandum with Türkiye's Ata Holding.

Participants also held thematic discussions and business matchmaking sessions on artificial intelligence, tourism, aviation, and energy.

A surge in global demand has set Yiwu's manufacturing and logistics chain running at full speed this spring, with factories and shippers all working overtime to meet orders bound for markets worldwide.

Many manufacturers in Yiwu, an eastern Chinese city known as "the world’s supermarket," reported a steady rise in orders in the first quarter of 2026.

Among them are sports goods makers racing to deliver ahead of the 2026 World Cup in North America.

"In the first two months alone, we sent about four containers of goods. Orders have gradually come in from South America and Africa, and the current orders can keep our production running through May," said Wu Xiaoming, general manager of a sports firm in Yiwu.

At Yiwu's bonded zone, customs brokers swiftly checked documents to ensure exports reach global markets fast.

"Today's shipments mainly are kitchenware, tableware and small home appliances. They are mainly bound for Germany and Spain," said Fu Jianying, a customs broker.

Yiwu has now linked 26 international rail freight routes, building a logistics network that covers more than 160 cities in about 50 countries. With smooth transport, creative design and strong manufacturing capacity, the city's cross-border trade is accelerating, underscoring its role as a hub of global small commodities.
