Chinese animation "Nobody" has emerged as the reigning champion at Vietnam's box office for two consecutive weeks.

As of now, the blockbuster, which premiered in Vietnam on January 23, has grossed 33 billion Vietnamese dong (about 1.28 million U.S. dollars).

According to a Vietnamese film data platform, the film topped the weekly box office chart in its opening week with 152,000 viewers. In its second week, the film's popularity surged, resulting in a remarkable 30 percent increase in box office revenue.

Many young people in Vietnam feel that the film's narrative is deeply moving and resonates emotionally on a profound level.

"At first, this animated film gave me a pure comedic experience, but as the story progressed, I gradually had an increasingly deeper understanding of life, and became emotional. Even now, I remain immersed in the emotional impact the movie has left on me. This film is truly remarkable and touching, and I believe everyone should see it in theaters. I highly recommend it," said Nguyen Cong Phuc, a Vietnamese moviegoer.

"I saw a reflection of myself in the movie because I also work," said Pham Thu Ha, another moviegoer.

"Nobody" is set against a backdrop of Chinese classic novel "Journey to the West", which is widely known in Vietnam. The animation brings fresh perspectives and plot developments that resonate even more deeply than contemporaneous Hollywood blockbusters. The positive word-of-mouth has significantly boosted box office revenue.

"I read 'Journey to the West' when I was a child. I believe that Chinese culture emphasizes perseverance and sincerity. I think this animated film conveys a very good message. For example, it incorporates the concept of exorcising evil spirits and demons to explore the belief in people's hearts that aspires to eliminate wrongdoing and promote goodness," said Mai Phuơng Ngan, a moviegoer.

"Due to the immense popularity of 'Nobody', the National Cinema Center of Vietnam has made special adjustments to the screening schedule, adding multiple screenings to make it easier for audiences to watch this highly acclaimed film at their convenience," said Bui Thi Hau, a Vietnamese cinema staff member.

China Media Group's 2026 Spring Festival Gala promo recently lit up a giant screen in downtown Skopje, marking the gala's first-ever appearance in North Macedonia and drawing crowds of curious locals and overseas Chinese.

The Spring Festival, or the Chinese New Year, is the most important traditional holiday for Chinese people, and the gala's live broadcast on the eve of the festival has become a cherished part of the celebrations in hundreds of millions of homes.

On February 6, the promo captivated audiences in Skopje's city center, where its vibrant colors and festive music captured the spirit of the holiday and drew passersby to stop and watch.

"The promotion and the gala seems like a really interesting event, which I would love to attend one day, hopefully in the future, which I believe showcases the most beautiful parts of Chinese culture," said a local student named Blindit Aranishi.

At the Chinese Embassy's Spring Festival reception in North Macedonia that same day, guests were treated to a screening of the gala's promotional video along with highlights from the "Travel China Through Film" series.

"The promotion and the gala seems like a really interesting event, which I would love to attend one day, hopefully in the future, which I believe showcases the most beautiful parts of Chinese culture," said Jiang Xiaoyan, Chinese ambassador to North Macedonia.

"It's really breathtaking. The talents that we see from Chinese actors and singers and painters are remarkable. So of course, it will bring lots of joy to people watching the gala and also I am very happy that this joy was shared with the people of North Macedonia," said Rita Columbia, United Nations Resident Coordinator in North Macedonia.

The Spring Festival falls on Feb 17 this year, marking the start of the Chinese New Year. This year ushers in the Year of the Horse, the seventh animal in the 12-year Chinese zodiac cycle.
