A spectacular acrobatics performance thrilled viewers with a series of daring tricks and skillful moves accompanied by a host of stunning audiovisual effects during the China Media Group (CMG)'s 2026 Spring Festival Gala on Monday.
The talented performers came from the world-renowned Jonglissimo juggling ensemble from Austria, as well as the Henan Acrobatic Group and the Puyang Acrobatic Art School in central China.
The act showcased a range of astonishing moves on stage which included performers throwing juggling pins to each other and tossing a rapidly spinning diabolo -- also known as the Chinese yo-yo -- meters high into the air while seamlessly and securely catching it.
The screen behind performers also showcased various classic Spring Festival elements, such as firecrackers, Chinese knots, lanterns, and a colorful dancing lion which interacted with the acrobats.
This captivating cross-cultural performance not only fostered mutual appreciation among artists from around the world, but also depicted people's hopes for the upcoming spring season amid a festive atmosphere.
The Spring Festival, or the Chinese New Year, is the most important traditional holiday for the Chinese people, and watching the Spring Festival Gala, also known as "Chunwan," is a cherished part of the celebrations every year in hundreds of millions of Chinese homes.
Since first being broadcast in 1983, the gala has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the most-watched annual television program on the planet.
The Spring Festival itself was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2024.
The 2026 Spring Festival falls on Tuesday this year, ushering in the Year of the Horse.
