A heartwarming song highlighting the importance of human connection enchanted audiences during the China Media Group (CMG)'s 2026 Spring Festival Gala, which is being broadcast on Monday, the eve of the Chinese New Year.

China's well-known pop singer Faye Wong performed the ballad, titled "The Moment We Experienced."

The star's distinctive and ethereal voice told of fated encounters between people at key moments in their lives, the warmth they share, and how they help light up each other's path through life.

The Spring Festival, or the Chinese New Year, is the most important traditional holiday for the Chinese people, and watching the Spring Festival Gala, also known as "Chunwan," is a cherished part of the celebrations every year in hundreds of millions of Chinese homes.

Since first being broadcast in 1983, the gala has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the most-watched annual television program on the planet.

The Spring Festival itself was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2024.

The 2026 Spring Festival falls on Tuesday this year, ushering in the Year of the Horse.

The document, jointly released by the Ministry of Commerce and eight other departments, outlined 64 measures to boost service consumption, including traditional sectors like catering and accommodation, tourism, as well as elderly care and childcare.

Emerging growth sectors, such as housekeeping, performance services and inbound consumption, are also covered.

These measures will create new consumption scenarios amid efforts to drive service consumption and meet people's growing needs for a better life, according to the ministry.
