Rural areas in China have undergone sweeping changes in living standards and industrial development, moving towards prosperity.
Shenshan Village, located deep in the mountainous area of Maoping Town in Jinggangshan City in east China's Jiangxi Province, has capitalized on its natural advantages by expanding signature industries such as tea and bamboo while developing rural tourism.
Villager Peng Xiaying started the village's first agritourism homestay in 2016. Now it has grown into a comfortable guesthouse with 18 rooms, generating an annual family income of 100,000 yuan (about 14,474 U.S. dollars).
"With policy support, we now thrive on tourism right at our doorstep," she said.
In Shenshan Village, per capita disposable income has soared from 2,300 yuan (about 333 U.S. dollars) ten years ago to 36,000 yuan (about 5210 U.S. dollars).
"Over the past decade, Shenshan Village has transformed from a mountainous village into a tourist destination. We will further strengthen our industries, boost vitality, and enhance the sense of fulfillment and happiness for our people," said Xiong Bin, secretary of Communist Party of China (CPC) branch of Maoping Town.
Such progress has also taken place in Sanhe Village in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The village built a cultural products production base. It has been bustling with activity as villagers rush to fulfill orders.
"Our village has undergone tremendous changes in recent years. We used to rely solely on farming. Now I can also work in the village factory, earning over 20,000 yuan (about 2895 U.S. dollars) more annually. In the new year, I will keep working hard," said a villager.
In recent years, the village has developed specialty planting and breeding, established hotels and created a folk culture street. These developments now extend benefits to nine neighboring villages, creating employment opportunities for more than 300 people.
During Spring Festival holiday, Duancun Village in Linfen City, north China's Shanxi Province, is alive with celebration as villagers beat gongs and drums to welcome the Chinese New Year.
The village has actively developed photovoltaic power generation and sheep and cattle breeding, making strides in agricultural industry.
"In recent years, our living conditions have improved greatly. All village roads are paved, tap water reaches every household, and facilities are available for seniors to dine, play chess, and exercise. Our happy life keeps getting better," said Cai Wenming, a villager.
