Chinese shares close higher Tuesday

Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.87 percent to 4,117.41 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.36 percent higher at 14,291.57 points.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.99 percent to close at 3308.26 points.

Hong Kong's stock market ended lower Tuesday with the benchmark Hang Seng Index down 1.82 percent to close at 26,590.32 points.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 2.06 percent to end at 9,007.86 points, and the Hang Seng Tech Index fell 2.13 percent to end at 5,270.7 points.
