Hong Kong's stock market tumbled on Tuesday with the benchmark Hang Seng Index down 1.12 percent to close at 25,768.08 points.
The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lost 1.07 percent to end at 8,608.71 points, and the Hang Seng Tech Index plunged 2.26 percent to 4,876.53 points.
Hong Kong stocks close lower
Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.43 percent to 4,122.68 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 3.07 percent lower at 14,022.39 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices totaled 3.13 trillion yuan (about 452.97 billion U.S. dollars), up from 3.02 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks in the oil and gas extraction and shale gas sectors led the gains, while military equipment and minor metals shares were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 2.57 percent on Tuesday, closing at 3,209.48 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 5.38 percent lower at 1,729.17 points on Tuesday.
