An explosion prompted the emergency evacuation of some passengers at the Dubai International Airport, one of the world's busiest airports, in the United Arab Emirates, on Saturday morning.
The passengers, who had been waiting to board their flights, were guided by staff members to an underground shelter of the airport in an orderly evacuation operation, immediately after the blast was heard nearby, according to a Chinese Media Group (CMG) crew reporting from the airport.
An interception operation was conducted over the airport.
Dubai-based carrier Emirates issued a statement later that day, announcing the suspension of all flights to and from the city, until further notice.
Also on Saturday, alerts of potential missile strikes were sent to residents' phones in parts of Dubai, warning them to shelter in safe buildings and staying away from windows.
