The 6th China Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Conference is underway in Tianjin, where a range of domestically developed technologies are on display, highlighting advances in China's LNG sector.

Opened on Thursday and held biennially, this year's event has drawn more than 1,100 participants from over 30 countries and regions. It also runs an exhibition of Liquefied Natural Gas equipment and materials brought together from more than 200 leading companies across China, with their latest innovations.

Among the highlights is a domestically developed high-precision natural gas analyzer capable of delivering real-time calorific value calculations and completing comprehensive quality assessments.

"With this single piece of equipment, we can collect all key data for quality testing within 20 minutes," introduced Shen Lin from LNG Analysis and Assessment Institute under Natural Gas Research Institute of PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gas Fields.

Meanwhile, breakthroughs in key materials are also drawing attention. Newly developed low-temperature coatings help address longstanding challenges in LNG storage and transportation, such as corrosion resistance and thermal insulation, while improving energy efficiency compared with conventional cooling technologies.

"Compared to traditional electric cooling, the coating significantly saves energy and reduces surface temperature by 10 to 15 degrees Celsius," said Li Kang from New Energy Storage and Transportation Research Institute under PipeChina.

At least 20 people were killed and 57 others injured in Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon over the past 24 hours, according to official figures released on Friday.

The latest casualties bring the cumulative death toll to 1,021, with a total of 2,641 people wounded since the escalation of hostilities on March 2.

Meanwhile, displacement continues to rise sharply as ongoing strikes force more residents to flee their homes. A total of 134,616 displaced people are currently sheltering in 644 centers across the country, the figures show.

Efforts to accommodate displaced populations remain under strain as the humanitarian situation deteriorates amid continued airstrikes.

Hezbollah entered the confrontation on March 2 by launching rockets from southern Lebanon toward Israel for the first time since a ceasefire on Nov. 27, 2024, prompting Israel to carry out an intensified military campaign targeting multiple areas across the country.
