Iran will not lift navigation restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz in the short term until threats against the country are eliminated, said Consul General of Iran in Shanghai Ali Mohammadi.

As the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran continues to escalate, Iranian authorities have made clear that Iran had no intention to talk with the United States for a political agreement for the time being.

The conflict must end in a way that guarantees no further conflicts, no new wars, and no repetition of history, Mohammadi said in a recent interview.

"I would like to add that whether in the war last year or in the current one, we have been negotiating with the United States all along. We were sitting at the negotiating table when they launched another war, proving that their goal was not to reach an agreement through negotiation, but to impose their demands through war -- demands that amount to nothing less than Iran's unconditional surrender. In our history, there has never been, and there never will be, such a thing as unconditional surrender," he said.

Propelled by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, global oil prices have soared by about 50 percent since the outbreak of the conflict. Mohammadi stated that the current "special measures" on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz will only be lifted when threats against Iran are eliminated.

"The United States and Israel have waged an unjust and brutal war and aggression against our people. You may ask, when will these special measures currently imposed on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz be lifted? The answer is simple: when threats against the Iranian nation are eliminated," Mohammadi said.

According to data released by the Iranian Red Crescent Society, attacks launched by the U.S. and Israel against Iran since Feb 28 have injured over 18,000 civilians and resulted in the deaths of 204 minors.
