Spring flowers are in full bloom in the Xiong'an New Area in north China's Hebei Province, drawing crowds of residents and tourists alike, and showcasing the new area's ecological conservation progress over the past nine years since its establishment.
China announced plans to establish the Xiong'an New Area on April 1, 2017 to relieve Beijing of functions non-essential to its role as the national capital and advance coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in north China.
Since its establishment, Xiong'an has prioritized ecological conservation and green development, laying a solid foundation for an eco-friendly future city.
In the spring season so far, vibrant blooms of peach, apricot and magnolia flowers have transformed Yuerong Park, one of the major leisure destinations in the Xiong'an New Area, into a colorful attraction.
Visitors are flocking to the park to enjoy the blossoms' delicate beauty, sweet fragrance and refreshing spring atmosphere.
"Today, we came here to enjoy the flowers and take a walk with the kids. The flowers here are blooming exceptionally well. I think the ecological conservation of the city is getting better and better," said Li Yuwei, a local resident.
"There are apricot blossoms, plum blossoms and peach blossoms [here at the park], all blooming beautifully. I feel very happy to be here. The changes over the past nine years [since the establishment of the Xiong'an New Area] have been tremendous," said another resident named Gao Baohua.
