Cheng Li-wun, chairwoman of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) party, visited an auto factory of Chinese tech giant Xiaomi in Beijing on Sunday morning.

The chairwoman and her delegation were briefed on the latest developments in the production, and research and development of new energy vehicles on the mainland.

Cheng also sat in the driver's seat of a vehicle, praising its intelligent and user-friendly design.

Her delegation wrapped up its six-day visit to the Chinese mainland and departed Beijing for Taiwan on Sunday afternoon.

From Tuesday to Sunday, they toured Jiangsu Province, Shanghai and Beijing. This marks the first visit in a decade of a KMT delegation led by its chairperson to the mainland.

European airports risk a systemic jet fuel shortage if the Strait of Hormuz does not reopen in the next three weeks, the Airports Council International (ACI) Europe warned recently.

In a letter to the European commissioners, ACI Europe's Director-general Olivier Jankovec stated that with the approach of the summer tourism season, concerns about the availability of jet fuel have been increasing.

Such a shortage would severely disrupt air transportation and airport operations, with the risk of harsh economic impacts for Europe, Jankovec said.
