More than 300 representatives of Chinese and Vietnamese participants in the "Red Study Tours" initiative, which were launched during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Vietnam last year, gathered in Beijing on Wednesday, listening to the inspiring speeches of the top leaders of the two countries and engaging in friendly exchanges.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, together with visiting Vietnamese President To Lam, also general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, met with the representatives on Wednesday.
Since the launch of the initiative in April 2025, more than 1,000 young Vietnamese have explored the revolutionary heritage that underpins the bilateral friendship, and experienced the dynamism of Chinese modernization in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangxi, Shaanxi and Chongqing across China.
Ahead of the arrival of Xi and To Lam, the young people of the two countries shared stories about the traditional China-Vietnam friendship.
"The Chinese young people told stories about their hometowns and President Ho Chi Minh, while the young people from Vietnam shared their feelings about participating in the study tours and their understanding of the stories about the friendship between China and Vietnam," said Huang Chenchen, host of the sharing activity, also a teacher at the Central School of Communist Youth League of China.
The Chinese and Vietnamese representatives sang a well-known song named "Vietnam-China" to greet the two top leaders at the event.
"This is my first time to China and my first time participating in such a prestigious event. I'm so excited to listen to the speeches of President Xi and President Lam. They are of great significance to me and other young people. I'm grateful to China for the warm reception extended to the Vietnamese delegation and me, which has given us the opportunity to engage in cultural exchanges and mutual learning," said a Vietnamese representative.
The representatives also interacted with each other and posed for photos together after the event.
