Various themed events and folk activities are getting underway across China to celebrate the five-day May Day holiday, which began on Friday.

Bailu Yuan (White Deer Plain) movie and TV venue in northwest China's Xi'an City hosted a grand rally to pay tribute to ordinary workers.

At the event, workers from all walks of life, dressed in their professional work uniforms and holding distinctive tools of their trades, presented a heartfelt labor-themed gala for tourists.

"It is the first time I have seen such a grounded and down-to-earth event. I am deeply touched," said a visitor.

Meanwhile, Quxian County of southwest China's Sichuan Province held an exhibition featuring over 50 traditional farming implements that illustrate the full farming process -- from plowing and sowing to harvesting and grain processing, offering visitors an authentic and immersive experience of rural culture.

"The time-spanning contrast makes me feel warm and encouraged," said Liu Jing, a visitor.

Xinle County of north China's Hebei Province held a ceremony worshiping Fuxi, a mythical ancestor of the Chinese nation, with large-scale performances.

An intangible heritage exhibition was held at Hebei Academy of Fine Arts, where modern cultural and creative products were showcased alongside traditional crafts such as embroidery, wood carving and sugar painting.

The event also set up immersive interactive areas, allowing visitors to try these skills such as paper cutting themselves.

Furthermore, a folk culture parade took place in Luodian County of southwest China's Guizhou Province, blending local traditions and scenic views with holiday celebrations to give visitors a distinctive cultural experience.

On the first day of this year's May Day holiday, a total of 47 parade teams, comprising more than 2,500 people from Guizhou and Guangxi, took to the streets in exquisite ethnic costumes. The processions marched along, singing and dancing all the way.

"I really like the Buyi ethnic costumes, and the atmosphere is wonderful," said Xiong Tianyu, a visitor.

Fuzhou, the capital of southeast China's Fujian Province, launched a cross-strait cultural carnival during the May Day holiday, attracting visitors from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to revel in the festivities.

The carnival unfolded at a historical and cultural block in Lianjiang County, Fuzhou, where an array of performances highlighted local culture and the deep ties across the Strait, serving as a rich cultural feast for holidaymakers.

"Strolling through the ancient streets, with the old buildings on both sides and intangible heritage performances all around, it feels like traveling back in time. It also reminds you that people on both sides of the Strait share the same roots and the same cultural lineage," said Zhang Chuanzhen, a Taiwan compatriot.

In addition to stage performances, the block also featured intangible cultural heritage displays, cultural and creative markets, and hands-on craft experience activities. The immersive and interactive setting invited visitors to explore the history, take in the scenery, and savor the culture.

"We are dedicated to allowing everyone to experience the breadth and depth of Chinese culture, and to strengthen the sense of shared cultural identity across the Strait. Going forward, Lianjiang County will continue to innovate forms of cultural exchanges and build a bridge for heart-to-heart communication between compatriots on both sides of the Strait, especially among the younger generations," said Ren Yong, director of the Lianjiang County Cultural Center.
