French rider Valentin Debise expressed strong confidence in Chinese motorcycle manufacturer ZXMOTO despite a technical trouble during the Hungarian round of the Superbike World Championship.
Debise charged from third to first on the final lap to win Race 1 of the World Supersport (WorldSSP) category at the Hungarian round of the Superbike World Championship on Saturday, delivering the Chinese manufacturer's third victory of its debut season.
However, during Race 2 on Sunday, Debise was forced to retire on the second lap due to a technical failure.
Zhang Xue, founder of ZXMOTO, later said in a social media video that preliminary checks indicated the failure was caused by a drop in engine oil pressure, though further analysis is needed to determine the exact cause.
In a post-race interview, Debise expressed strong confidence in ZXMOTO, noting that he has achieved many excellent results with the motorbike.
"When people ask these questions, the only answer I can say is I won three races with this bike. So if the bike was not good, it would be impossible to win the race. And so of course, the bike is very good. I evaluate the performance ten on ten. I want to say that we are going to do our maximum as always. And I also want to say that it's not possible to win all the races," said Debise.
Fabio Evangelista, principal of the Italian-run Evan Bros Racing Team, which cooperates with ZXMOTO, also lauded the Chinese manufacturer, adding that he and Zhang Xue have jointly charted their development objectives for the next three years.
"Our target too is to win the World Championship in these three years. So this is our target that we signed together and we want to reach together this very high target. Because everybody have to understand this is the World Championship, so this is the top level of the racing bikes," said Evangelista.
Debise remains third in the riders' standings with 97 points, while ZXMOTO sits third in the manufacturers' standings with 99 points.
The team is set to compete next in the Czech Republic round from May 15 to 17.
