China stands ready to take the opportunity of the 2026 China-Brazil Year of Culture to deepen bilateral ties, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Thursday.
The initiative has already seen high-level engagement, with Brazilian Culture Minister Margareth Menezes recently visiting China. A range of activities are also underway in both countries to celebrate the year of culture.
Lin made the remarks in response to questions about the role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations and China's expectations for the year-long initiative.
"Within the framework of 2026 China-Brazil Year of Culture, a rich and diverse series of cultural events is being held in both countries. China stands ready to work with Brazil, taking the successful hosting of the Year of Culture as an opportunity, to jointly advance China-Brazil relations and promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations," he said.
