More than 70 percent of global respondents believe a healthy and stable China-U.S. relationship is crucial to the international community, according to a recent poll conducted by China Global Television Network (CGTN) and Renmin University of China.

The results were released ahead of U.S. President Donald Trump's scheduled state visit to China from May 13 to 15.

More than 12,300 respondents from 39 nations participated in the survey, with nearly 68 percent of them believing China and the United States can achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. They also believe trade issues between that two countries are not irreconcilable.

About three-quarters of those surveyed said the essence of bilateral trade lies in mutual benefit and reciprocity, and that cooperation benefits both sides while confrontation harms both.

Nearly 79 percent of the respondents believe China and the United States should strengthen dialogue on the basis of mutual respect to reduce misunderstandings. Among U.S. respondents, 78 percent agree with this view.

The first China-Tajik Digital Business Connect event took place in Beijing on Monday.

Hundreds of business representatives from both sides participated in the event, where they discussed topics such as the green transition and artificial intelligence.

Mainly organized by the Agency of Innovation and Digital Technologies of Tajikistan and sponsored by China's leading tech company Huawei, the first China-Tajik Digital Business Connect aims to promote technology and innovation cooperation between the two sides.

"China is a global technology leader and one of Tajikistan's major strategic partners. Chinese innovation, experience and investment can play an important role in Tajikistan's digital development," said Khurshed Mirzo, director, Agency of Innovation and Digital Technologies of Tajikistan.

In fact, China has become Tajikistan's largest trading partner. In the first quarter of this year, bilateral trade volume exceeded 790 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of more than 50 percent.

Hundreds of business leaders from both sides at the event discussed topics such as the digital economy, fin-tech, and green transition.

"I think the two most important things in modern society are artificial intelligence and digitization. Countries in Central Asia such as Tajikistan don’t want to fall behind in this wave of the digital transformation. I personally believe the development of the digital economy presents a relatively equal opportunity for all countries," said Xu Hai, regional vice president for Central Asia of Huawei.

A number of cooperative agreements were signed at the gathering, in areas ranging from AI to building smart cities.

"I am sure that today's event will be the first step in fostering the digital business communication. It is a huge step forward for both of our countries in terms of, you know, we have a very long history of friendship but when it comes to digital sphere, this is the first and big step and we're looking forward a lot of cooperation coming in," said Muhammadkhuja Davlyatov, consultant to director on public and donor relations under the Agency of Innovation and Digital Technologies of Tajikistan.
