China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) continued to release yellow warning for heavy rain on Saturday as widespread rainfall is affecting central and eastern parts of the country.
Rainfall will intensify in central and east China over the next three days with a rain belt, which stretches from north to south, advancing gradually from west to east and Saturday saw the most intense precipitation, according to the NMC.
Meteorological authorities warned that in the next three days, areas including the northern part of southwest China's Guizhou Province will face high risks of geological disasters.
Besides, northeastern Guizhou and the southwestern part of central China's Hubei Province are at high risk of flash floods, the authorities said.
Regions in south China's Pearl River Delta and in Guangdong Province are prone to high risks of floods in small and medium-sized rivers, according to the authorities.
The meteorological department of Zhuhai City in Guangdong released a red warning for heavy rain on Friday.
The city experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds on the day, with severe waterlogging occurring on some roads.
Local authorities responded swiftly with personnel and machinery deployed to carry out emergency operations for flood drainage.
Classes at all kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in Zhuhai were suspended on Friday.
As rainfall ceases, work and life have been restored to normalcy in the city.
