Cross-Strait passenger flow through the Xiamen Port in Xiamen, southeast China's Fujian Province, this year has exceeded one million as of Tuesday, the fastest ever to reach the milestone, according to data from Xiamen's Gaoqi Border Inspection Station.
The figure also represents a 20 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
As of Tuesday, the Xiamen-Kinmen "mini three links" route has handled over 800,000 cross-Strait passenger trips, representing a year-on-year increase of nearly 25 percent. The figures point to closer cross-Strait people-to-people exchanges and stronger momentum toward integrated cross-Strait development.
The Xiamen-Kinmen route is part of the "mini-three-links," which is short for the direct trade, postal, and transport services between Fujian Province and China's Taiwan-administered Kinmen and Matsu islands.
