China's STAR Composite Index closes lower Tuesday

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 1.42 percent lower at 2,192.21 points on Tuesday.

The STAR 50 Index, which tracks the 50 largest stocks listed on the board that also meet certain liquidity requirements, closed 1.49 percent lower at 1,867.71 points.

The sci-tech innovation board, commonly known as the STAR Market, was inaugurated in June 2019 at Shanghai Stock Exchange. It is designed to support companies in the high-tech and strategic emerging sectors.

Hong Kong's stock market ended lower on Tuesday with the benchmark Hang Seng Index down 0.03 percent to close at 25,599.45 points.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 0.30 percent to end at 8,576.89 points, while the Hang Seng Tech Index climbed 1.59 percent to end at 4,946.88 points.
