The World Intelligence Expo 2026, which kicked off Thursday in north China's Tianjin Municipality, brings together over 700 exhibitors to showcase cutting-edge technologies, products and application scenarios in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
Co-hosted by the municipal governments of Tianjin and Chongqing, the four-day expo is themed "Intelligence: Extensive Development Space, Sustainable Growth Driver." It features seven exhibition zones covering embodied AI, core AI technologies, low-altitude economy and commercial space exploration, with the total exhibition area reaching 130,000 square meters.
The event has attracted leading companies, including Fortune Global 500 firms and top domestic enterprises in the AI sector.
During the event, over 200 new products, technologies, achievements and research reports will be released, covering embodied AI, intelligent connected vehicles, low-altitude economy, smart manufacturing and smart living.
"Many of these intelligent products and technologies are debuting either domestically or globally, moving from the lab into everyday life and industrial use. With more replicable and tangible application scenarios, they are poised to drive industrial growth," said Shen Maomao, director of the Research Office of the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology.
In addition to its main exhibitions, this year's expo will also host a number of featured intelligent competitions to showcase cutting-edge technologies.
"So much technology, so much hope here. I think it's very important that we need a communication platform to come together, to have an exchange and to speak about the future. I think everybody has to come here to see what's going on. With Europe and China, we can have a lot to improve," said Jens de Buhr, managing director of JDB Holding.
Nearly 100 cutting-edge technological achievements in fields such as smart cities and smart living are being unveiled at this year's expo, highlighting the latest progress in the intelligent industry.
Data shows that China's core AI industry exceeded 1.2 trillion yuan (about 177 billion U.S. dollars) in 2025, with more than 6,200 companies. AI adoption is accelerating across industries.
"The World Intelligence Expo serves as a window, presenting the latest technologies and practical solutions. By displaying them, the event helps accelerate the spread of innovation, prompting more businesses to embrace new technologies," said Liu Gang, director of the Institute of Economics at Nankai University.
The expo will bring together more than 500 professional buyer teams for signing events and networking, fostering collaboration among government, businesses, universities, and research institutes. The expo aims to unblock industrial and supply chains and speed up the conversion of technologies into products and practical applications.
