Foreign trade in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region logged a monthly record high in May, according to China's Beijing Customs District on Wednesday.
Statistics showed that in the first five months of 2026, the foreign trade volume of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has reached 2.09 trillion yuan (about 307 billion U.S. dollars), up 14.4 percent year on year, taking up 10.1 percent of China's total trade value.
Since this year, the region's foreign trade has kept a year-on-year growth for five consecutive months.
In May alone, exports amounted to 135.89 billion yuan, up 11.7 percent, while imports totaled 348.46 billion yuan, up 28.1 percent. Both hit a record high for a single month.
Regarding commodities, mechanical and electrical products accounted for 60 percent of the overall exports, with automobile and lithium battery exports increasing by 26.2 percent and 137.9 percent, respectively.
