The Middle Corridor, a vital artery for transporting goods from China to Europe, has handled more than 25,000 train trips since its launch in 2013.

The milestone was reached after a China-Europe freight train departed from northern Inner Mongolia's Erenhot Port, the largest land port on the China-Mongolia border, on Friday.

As the only port of entry into China along the Middle Corridor, Erenhot has seen its train trips increase over the years. It handled a cumulative 1,000 trains in 2018, and that figure exceeded 5,000 in 2020, reached 10,000 and 20,000 respectively in 2022 and 2025.

A total of 75 China-Europe freight train routes operate through the Erenhot Port, connecting with over 70 hub stations in more than 10 countries and regions, including Germany, Poland and Russia. Domestically, the port is linked with most cities of origin for the China-Europe freight train service.

The mix of goods passing through the port has been continuously upgraded, with shipments gradually shifting from metal products, chemical raw materials, and apparel products to high value-added products such as new energy vehicles, electronic products, and home appliances. The proportion of intelligent products manufactured in China has increased significantly, rising from less than 10 percent initially to over 40 percent.
