Communist members from Germany and Italy hailed Chinese President Xi Jinping's speech at a gathering in Beijing marking the 105th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), saying the speech reflects China's development path and its vision for global peace and cooperation.
In his speech on Wednesday, Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, called on Party members to remain steadfast in their convictions and work tirelessly to fulfill the Party's missions in the new era and on the new journey.
Founded in 1921 against the backdrop of a weak China plagued by foreign humiliation and poverty, the CPC has grown from a small group of just over 50 members into the world's largest governing party.
In an interview with the China Global Television Network (CGTN), Vincent Cziesla, head of the Editorial Department of Our Time, the official publication of German Communist Party, noted that President Xi's renewed commitment to global human progress and a shared future for mankind will help advance global peace and stability.
"Over the past 105 years, the CPC has demonstrated and proved its ability to apply Marxism to specific historical circumstance. The development path of the People's Republic of China in the last decades have lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty and created a great nation in unity. I want to point out and thank President Xi, the CPC and the Chinese people that the People's Republic of China stands without reservation on the side of peace, global stability and international law. And that's why we, the German communists, are grateful for President Xi's renewed commitment to global human progress and a shared future for mankind," he said.
Francesco Maringio, a member of Central Committee of Italian Communist Party, said in an interview with CGTN that President Xi's speech has inspired his Party to grow stronger and make a greater contribution to the world.
"We are living in this phase of our times in a very critical situation where many possibility and progress can rise, but also we are facing risks of war and so on. So how to manage this situation? After reading Xi Jinping's speech, I thought that one of the responses made by China is to get the CPC stronger and able to manage the situation for its own country and its own people, but also to give a contribution to the world. Of course, it doesn't mean that China's model is a model to copy and paste, but means that there is a reflection that even with the political differences, we have to think about and learn more about," he said.
