International observers have praised Chinese President Xi Jinping's speech at a gathering in Beijing marking the 105th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Wednesday, saying it reflects the Party's people-centered philosophy and offers important insights for global peace and development.
G. Weerasinghe, general secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, said China's development shows that modernization is not the exclusive preserve of the West.
"As Communist Party of China emphasizes, 'This country is its people. The people are the country.' The Communist Party of China's achievements in developing new quality productive forces, promoting high-quality development, achieving self-reliance and strength in science and technology, and building a green ecological civilization fully prove that this socialist system is completely capable of organizing modernization more efficiently than the capitalist system, and can better balance equity and efficiency. Chinese modernization has completely broken the myth that modernization equals Westernization," said Weerasinghe.
Yuriy Pikalov, a professor at Russia's Pacific National University, said that under the leadership of the CPC, the benefits of China's development are shared across society.
"Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, China has managed to make such achievements for the entire population, including building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. This is the key innovation -- caring for all the people, not just for a single class or any particular social group. The CPC has always made seeking happiness for the Chinese people its own goal. The people trust the Party and support the Party's leadership. This is precisely the fundamental guarantee that enables the CPC's policies to be implemented effectively. And under the leadership of CPC, the People's Republic of China has continuously achieved remarkable major accomplishments in the economic, political and social spheres that have attracted worldwide attention," said Pikalov.
Hendrik Vermeersch, co-founder of the Marxist University in Brussels, also underscored the CPC's people-centered philosophy.
"The main role of the Communist Party is to serve the people. This Communist Party is an instrument for making life better for ordinary people and for taking in hands the problems of the people and making sure that ordinary people have the leads," said Vermeersch, who is also a Marxist scholar.
