Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s upcoming state visit to China is expected to bring the development of bilateral relations to a new height, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Friday.
At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will pay a state visit to China from July 5 to 11, the ministry announced earlier on the day.
"This will be President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's first visit to China since taking office," Guo said.
"During the visit, President Xi Jinping will hold a welcome ceremony and a welcome banquet for her, and the two presidents will hold talks. Premier Li Qiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji will meet with her, respectively. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will also visit Guangdong Province and Sichuan Province," Guo told reporters.
"China and Namibia are comprehensive strategic cooperative partners enjoying traditional friendship. Over the 36 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, bilateral relations have remained robust and steadfast through the changing international landscape. At present, the two countries enjoy ever-deepening political mutual trust with cooperation yielding fruitful results for mutual benefit. The two countries are joining hands to pursue development and prosperity, and working closely to uphold international fairness and justice," the spokesman said.
"We believe that this visit will bring China-Namibia relations to a new height, and contribute to building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era and bolster the unity and self-reliance of the Global South," he said.
