Officials in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions (SAR) have expressed their inspiration and determination to contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation after Chinese President Xi Jinping's speech at a Beijing gathering marking the 105th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on July 1.

In his speech on Wednesday, Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, called on Party members to remain steadfast in their convictions and work tirelessly to fulfill the Party's missions in the new era and on the new journey.

"We were greatly inspired by President Xi's important speech on July 1. He pointed out that promoting the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macao is an inherent requirement of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," said Li Shengpo, a deputy from Hong Kong to the 14th National People's Congress (NPC).

"Under the 'one country, two systems' framework in the new era, Hong Kong is now in a new phase of advancing from stability to prosperity. People from all sectors are actively integrating into and serving the country's overall development, aligning with the national 15th Five-Year Plan to contribute Hong Kong's strength to national rejuvenation," Li said.

"President Xi's important speech was profound and inspiring. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is now making every effort to formulate its first five-year plan, proactively aligning with the country's development strategies and actively participating in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, seeking its own greater development while integrating into and serving the country's overall development," said Yiu Chi-shing, a member of the Standing Committee of the 14th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee and also president of the Hong Kong Association for Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China.

In Macao, Kong Chi Meng, director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government, also highlighted the speech's educational value, stressing the importance of nurturing a patriotic younger generation.

"The ceremony was a vivid lesson on Party history and national conditions for all sectors in Macao. President Xi noted that young people are the vital force in achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government has organized a series of activities to deepen young students' understanding of the Party's history, allowing them to profoundly appreciate the achievements of the Chinese nation's journey toward rejuvenation, further carry forward the fine tradition of loving the country and Macao, and serve as builders and successors of the 'one country, two systems' cause," Kong said.

"The youth in Macao will continue to carry forward the tradition of loving the country and Macao, take over the baton and write a new chapter in the successful practice of 'one country, two systems,' and contribute our Macao strength to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation," said Wong Kit Cheng, a member of the Standing Committee of 14th CPPCC National Committee and president of the Macao Youth Federation.
