Several railway services under the China Railway Nanning Group have been suspended or adjusted as Typhoon Maysak continues to affect southern China, especially Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China Central Television reported Monday.
Influenced by Typhoon Maysak, the 10th typhoon this year, heavy to torrential rains have battered southern parts of Guangxi, with some areas experiencing extreme downpours.
Railway authorities noted that additional trains passing through the Nanning–Guangzhou railway had been temporarily halted due to the impact brought by Typhoon Maesak starting from around 09:00 on Monday.
Passengers are advised to follow updates via the official 12306 railway website, mobile app or station announcements and make reasonable travel arrangements.
Due to the downpours and rain-triggered floods, the railway operator raised its flood control emergency response from Level IV to higher Level III on certain sections of track due to the typhoon's impact from 18:00 Sunday.
Several other train services passing cities of Guangxi have also been suspended.
