A high-level seminar on AI for Good and for All was convened in Geneva on Tuesday, which underscored the importance of strengthened solidarity and cooperation to ensure that AI development is for the common good, serves all, and benefits humanity as a whole.
The seminar, organized by the Group of Friends of Global Governance (GFGG), brought together more than 200 participants, including government officials from China, Kazakhstan and other countries, as well as heads of multiple UN specialized agencies.
Li Lecheng, Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China, introduced China's achievements in AI development and stated that global governance of AI calls for stronger international cooperation.
All parties should deepen innovation cooperation, strengthen collaborative governance, fully unleash the dividends of AI, and jointly create a better AI era, he said.
Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva, noted that promoting AI for good and for all requires a people-centered approach, openness and cooperation, as well as multilateralism. China stands ready to work with all parties to guide AI toward a beneficial, safe, and fair future, and contribute to better global governance.
Participants emphasized the need to strengthen solidarity and cooperation, promote the development of AI for good and for all, and harness AI for the benefit of humanity. They noted that, by convening the seminar during the inaugural Global Dialog on AI Governance and the AI for Good Global Summit, the GFGG had made a positive contribution to global AI governance.
