International gold and silver prices both advanced on Thursday.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange, gold futures for August delivery rose 1.43 percent to settle at 4,140.80 U.S. dollars per ounce, while silver futures for September delivery gained 3.77 percent to close at 60.748 dollars per ounce.

U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 139.02 points, or 0.27 percent, to 52,487.41. The S and P 500 added 60.93 points, or 0.81 percent, to 7,543.64. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 336.24 points, or 1.3 percent, to 26,206.89.
Seven of the 11 primary S and P 500 sectors ended in green, with technology and consumer discretionary leading the gainers by adding 1.65 percent and 1.46 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, consumer staples and energy led the laggards by going down 1.75 percent and 1.58 percent, respectively.
